Specialized in the study of drug-membrane interactions using cell-membrane mimetic models of different dimensionalities coupled with biophysical techniques, to unveil related mechanisms of action. The development of drug delivery nanosystems able to overcome the side-effects of commercial drugs is also a core area of research. Current investigation includes the design and development of targeted nanostructures (lipid nanoparticles, liposomes and magnetic nanoparticles) for the treatment of inflammatory conditions, cancer and Helicobacter pylori infection.
