Jorge Ferreira is an independent researcher at i3S and Assistant Professor at FMUP, currently investigating how cell and nuclear mechanics regulate cell division and chromosomal stability. We employ a combination of micromanipulation techniques with advanced microscopy and custom-designed computational tools to characterize how the crosstalk between extracellular forces, the cytoskeleton and the cell nucleus ultimately determine the efficiency of cell division.
