The Bioengineering and Synthetic Microbiology group uses a synthetic biology approach to develop efficient cell factories for the expression of (novel) bioactive compounds and explores the potential of cyanobacterial extracellular polymeric substances (EPS) and peptide based nanostructured materials as new therapeutic agents/matrices.
