Bruno Sarmento

My current research is focused on the development of nanomedicines and their application in the pharmaceutical and biomedical fields. Me and my team are particular interested in targeted nanomedicines, identifying novel biological targets, proposing new functional ligands and engineering tailored nanoplatforms for diagnostics, prevention and treatment. I also propose biorelevant in vitro cell and tissue engineering models as a tool to evaluate the transport of drugs and nanoparticles through biological barriers and perform in vitro/in vivo correlation.
