Degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences (1998) and PhD in Pharmacology (2003). Assistant Professor at the Department of Biological Sciences of Faculty of Pharmacy of University of Porto (FFUP), and principal investigator at the Drug Discovery & Development Research Unit (UCIBIO/REQUIMTE). Lucília Saraiva has know-how in Pharmacology, Microbial Biotechnology, Oncobiology and Molecular Biology. She is focused on understanding crucial events underlying cancer development/dissemination, and on the search for targeted-anticancer therapies through the development of innovative screening approaches involving engineering yeast cells, human tumour cells, and animal models. During the last five years, she was responsible for the discovery of several small molecule regulators of cancer-related proteins, including p53, caspases and PKCs.
